About this verb#
- Perfective of стирать (in the 'wipe / erase' sense). Class 9b -ереть: present-future contracts to сотру, сотрёшь with end stress; past tense drops -е- entirely (стёр, стёрла) with stem-fixed stress on ё. Note: стирать also pairs with the homophone стирать 'wash laundry', a different verb whose perfective is выстирать / постирать.
