About this verb#
- Class 1a with fixed stem stress (умираю, умираешь, умирают) and a long -ира- imperfective stem. Aspect partner умереть has a dramatically shorter stem (умр-: умру, умрёшь), the classic -ер- ↔ short-stem alternation. The masculine past of умереть drops the final consonant: умер.
