About this verb#
- Class 1a with fixed stem stress (прекращаю, прекращаешь, прекращают). Aspect partner прекратить (Class 4b) has end-stress and т → щ mutation in the я-form: прекращу, прекратишь. The щ in the imperfective stem reflects an old mutation that's now generalized.
