- Prefixed perfective from тверд- ('firm') with под-. Class 4b has end-stress throughout (подтвержу, подтвердишь, подтвердят), with д → ж mutation in 1sg (подтвержу). Passive participle подтверждённый shows the historical жд cluster (д → ж + epenthetic д), reflecting the Old Church Slavonic spelling. Aspect partner подтверждать generalizes the жд.
