About this verb#
- Prefixed perfective from держать with под- (literally 'hold from underneath'). Class 5c with shifting c-stress: поддержу (end-stressed 1sg) → поддержишь, поддержат (stem-stressed). The past has fixed stress on -жа- (поддержал). Aspect partner поддерживать has fixed stem stress on the prefix syllable (поддерживаю).
