About this verb#
- Class 1a with fixed stem stress (остужаю, остужаешь, остужают). Aspect partner остудить (Class 4c) has shifting c-stress and д → ж mutation in the я-form: остужу → остудишь. The ж in the imperfective stem reflects the same mutation, generalized.
