About this verb#
- Archaic, literary verb with two living meanings: 'consider, deem' (= считать) and the more common modern 'honour, revere' (= чтить). The full paradigm is defective in everyday speech; only a few forms survive in idioms and bookish prose. The traditional past чёл / чла contains the alternating root ч-/чт- and is essentially fossilised.
