About this verb#
- Class 4b -ить with т → щ mutation in 1sg (сокращу); the imperfective сокращать keeps -щ- throughout. End-stress 1sg → stem from 2sg. Workplace euphemism: 'they reduced us' (сократили нас) = they laid us off.
