About this verb#
- Perfective of верить with prefix по-. Class 4a, fixed stem stress on повер-, no 1sg mutation. The government splits crucially: + dative for 'believe a person or what they say' (поверить мне), but в + accusative for 'believe in (something abstract)' (поверить в чудо).
