About this verb#
- Class 1a with fixed stem stress (покидаю, покидаешь, покидают). Two homographs share the spelling: imperfective покидать 'abandon' (paired with pf покинуть) and a separate pf покидать 'throw for a while' (delimitative of кидать). The dictionary marks both.
