About this verb#
- Perfective with completive от- 'serve through, finish the duty'. Class 4a -ить, no consonant mutation (р stays), fixed stem stress on -жу-. Mostly used of medical staff, security guards, on-call shifts: anyone who 'serves out' a full duty period.
