  The victory was hard-won.

• Ему досталась лучшая комната.

  He got the best room.

• Prefixed perfective reflexive from стать ('become') with до-. Class 14b, with irregular conjugation on future stem -стан- (достанется, достанутся), no 1sg/1pl/2pl in practice. Used impersonally with dative experiencer: ему досталось ('he got'). Often implies windfall, fate, or hardship. Aspect partner доставаться (Class 13b).
